Over 70 airline carriers fly to Geneva airport, 159km from Verbier. Sion Airport is much smaller and has a fraction of this number, however it is only 54km from Verbier.
There is no direct train all the way to Verbier, however the Swiss trains are incredibly punctual. Check your route on cff.ch for times, prices and platform numbers.
You will need to get the train from Geneva Airport or Gare Centrale de Sion (3km from Sion Airport) to Martigny. Then change onto the smaller St Bernard Express train to Le Chable and then get either the telecabin up to Verbier (Medran) or the Poste Bus to the Station Poste (Place Centrale, nearest to the myverbier office).
There are regular departures throughout the day and early evening. Trains run later in the evenings during the peak Winter tourist season. It will take about 2.5 hours from Geneva and about 1 hour from Gare Centrale de Sion. The train to and from Martigny often starts earlier runs later than the final connections to Verbier.
Verbier is about 2 hours drive from Geneva Airport and about 50 minutes from Sion Airport.
Alpybus or Alpin Express offer shared or private transfers from Geneva and Alpin Express offer private transfers from Sion.
May Taxis are a reliable Verbier based Taxi company who offer airport transfers, or who can be booked to meet you at Martigny or Le Châble. There is no taxi rank at Sion Airport, however you can go to Office C and they will call a local company for you.
There are several car hire companies operating from Geneva Airport. There are no car hire companies based at Sion airport but there are pick-up phones for both Avis and Europcar. Remember to check the car has snow tyres and don’t forget to get snow chains during the Winter especially if there is heavy snowfall.
NB: The police are able to stop you driving up to Verbier if you do not have the correct equipment.
